The USS KIDD Veterans Museum will be hosting its annual Spirit of ’45 fundraiser to honor the greatest generation of men and women who sacrificed much in WWII. The event will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017, from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the American Legion Hall at 151 S. Wooddale Blvd. in Baton Rouge.
“Keep the Spirit of ‘45 Alive” attendees will enjoy a one-of-a-kind USO style performance by the nationally known On the Air - A Tribute to Bob Hope and Radio Stars of the 1940s. On the Air is made up of the duo Chuck Carlson and Lynn Roberts.
There will be dance music of the period, heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine and beer, and a cash bar for cocktails available. All guests are encouraged to wear 1940’s outfits and bring their dancing shoes.
There will also be silent auctions, live auctions, raffles, and balloon pops as a fundraiser. These funds will help support daily Museum operations, the building maintenance fund, community programs, educational outreach initiatives, alternative therapy programs for veterans, and the preservation of the world-renowned Fletcher-class destroyer, the USS KIDD (DD-661).
Spirit of ’45 tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased at spiritof452017.eventbrite.com or in the museum gift shop located at 305 S. River Rd. Tickets are limited to 350 and should be purchased by August 14. A limited number of tickets may be available at the door on the night of the event. Call for availability.
